This would actually hurt smaller players who would become easy targets for migrant cappers. The rational behind this ideal is said to be a desire to benefit from the GPS feature but I suspect the true motivation is to implement a strategy that would open up a source of turfs that is currently blocked "as Mystery stated" by cap limits. I also see this benefitting stronger players much more so than weaker or less establish ones. It would usher in a Darwinian era that would all but eliminate the lower levels.
Many of the suggestions I see are of a similar nature in that the presentation of these ideals suggest altruistic thoughts but upon closer examination one discovers issues and advantages that weigh heavily on the side strength for strength's sake.

There are two things that determine the timing of an attack. When a turf matures and when a vendetta matures. Both take 24 hours for a reason - so the defender can have time to prepare. And that's fair.
This doesn't add to the GPS anymore than planting a turf at your location and waiting 24 hours.
Plus how do you defend against this? You can't physically cap the attacker out the area. Are you supposed to drive around looking for someone with an iPod so you can beat them up? No.
No balance in this (not that there is much balance in the game anymore).

I understand your point that there isn't a GPS advantage anymore. I just don't have a good suggestion for what to add.

👍This is a great idea. Even give a player more strength for getting close to the actual dot❕that will encourage weaker players to sneak up on larger players👏

There are pro's and cons to both sides of it, I believe that capping from current location would bring a new era into the game and broaden its gps features, however it would probably be exploited like everything else has been at one time or another (where's my 4k henchies?😜) until the devs work out fixes to counter balance things better....

How about the ability to destroy a turf with GPS? So it acts like a V without the defense decrease.
That would benefit those that actually travel around but not allow them to amass more inf. through capping.
