When someone pays protection, it should actually give them protection. Protection doesn't actually do anything for the person being taxed. I think that this formula is what should be used:
Amount of protection payed from that turf/Amount of money earned from that turf=Percent of defense added. So to make things easy, let's pretend that a turf makes 40k and someone taxes it, and they start paying 20k protection. 20/40=.5, so the turf should have a 50% increase in defense. Thoughts?

Protection is to stop the player receiving protection from capping your turf.

I understand what you're saying, but I think that doing this would add a whole new level of strategy to Turf Wars. I think it'd keep people thinking, and take more into consideration before capping.

If I'm taxing you you're pretty safe. If someone bigger comes along they'll cap me first to gain the upgrade and probably continue taxing you. If someone smaller than me caps you, well I'll just tax them instead.

... No that's a terrible idea.. if I'm a huge don ownin new York i don't want to protect all the small frys coming up in my city (that's like paying upkeep for turf upgrades) if you wanna come up in someone else's territory you pay them or it's game over... That's what makes people think and be strategic not having someone else guard them at all times (btw did anyone see that dude in china who built his turf in a wall so people have to go around or pay protection EPIC)
