How about making it possible to hop on boat lines? The turf you place on the water would expire and "drown" after an hour or so.

Pros:
Would make it possible for island players to get to mainland.
Could hop to another continent (eg Italy to Tunisia)

Cons:
Can't think of any.

I think they do want to hop, seems they're just stuck on an island and want to be able to hop the ferry route. Treat the ferry route the same as a road

Re-read the post. Please, don't blurt out shit like this if you don't know what I'm suggesting.
As mr Saigon mentioned, we'd treat the ferry routes like roads, except the turf planted on them would expire (sink) after a short while. I really don't see any cons to the idea. If you find one let me know...

Great idea, especially the sinking part, maby you could extend their life whith don points?( Like an upgrade but it effects all turf built after you do it eg your average water turf lasts 12 hours, you go to the don and upgrade to 24 hours, all your water turf now last 24 hours. You can add 12 hours at a time for 50 don points)

Good idea! That would make it possible to jump in several sittings!

YES! Theferry route is a road so you can hop to main land... But your turf there is destroyed after 24hrs so it doesnt get clogged up.

That would be fine, aslong as there is a boat line a cross the Atlantic.

How about you can chose when you start the game, will you be a piolit(airports), a driver(railways) or a boatman(boat routes). You would have to hop along train and boat routes, but you would get an advantage, maby more mony per turf. Piolets would also have to spend 10% of their mony on jet fuel

You can choose when you start the game, you could be a pilot (airports), a driver (railways) or a boatman (boat routes). You would have to hop along train and boat routes, but you would get an advantage, maybe more money per turf. Pilots would also have to spend 10% of their money on jet fuel.

That idea doesn't fit with the game. You can't use railroad tracks anyway unless the Geocoder happens to recognize them (which usually means there is a street nearby).
