The idea is that you could upvote and downvote comments.
Tap with 2 fingers - upvote, 3 - downvote.
Additionally if comment has, for example -5 downvotes it can't be seen until you press a button to show it.
Also, it would be cool to see in players how many up/downvotes he has gotten. (or only one number summed together)
We could even incorporate leader boards!
Or forums with upvote req. (which would be better than a vet forum IMO) -
Why?

Sounds like facebook/YouTube..
-
Sounds like reddit
-
Sounds like you have an iPad w multi tasking gestures where as any other device doesn't.

It doesn't mean we would need to do it exatcly like that however. -

If we could upvote threads too we could keep track on how many people agree on an idea.

Yea but then we would lose all other voices because ppl wouldn't say it their own way or quote and add things to it, they would just go "oh yea that sounds good, not the way I want it but its close enough" and just press likeIf we could upvote threads too we could keep track on how many people agree on an idea.
Where as this system allows everyone to speak freely and we can reach a conclusion based on everyone input of the subject. Now a FLAG button is something we need so we can rid the forums of trolls. -

The idea is to give more of a voice to players who only read the forums, faster and more accurate way to keep track of the popularity of peoples ideas and opinions, and overall give players more goals to achieve in the forums.
This would, at least for me, improve forums immensely.Btw make a thread about flagging if if hasnt already.
-
No one forces players to only read the forums. If they don't "have a voice" it's because they choose not to. The only place where "popularity" about ideas & opinions matters in the suggestion forum. Even if you implemented a system of "thumbs down" or whatever for bad threads, it would be abused. Forums don't need goals.
-
Many players are forced (ban or considered to be a troll), besides I think newbs should first read a bit and then post. Would go as far to say maybe some like to just read.
So? Would it not be an improvement?
Didn't say anything about penalties to threads if they have downvotes.
Why not? There are players who just use the forums.
And I know. This game isn't called forum wars. But forums are what set this game apart from other games for me. An improvement or to wouldn't be all that bad. And we don't have to incorporate all ideas. In fact only liking/disliking threads would be good. I fail to see what is so bad about this idea.
Maybe if someone else wrote it...
-
Other people have written this idea, several in fact.
Players that are banned are banned for a reason. There shouldn't be allowances for them to "have a voice." Everyone else has free will to post or not.
Players that just use the forums, do it to read & post. They don't need goals.
I don't see how this would be an improvement.

And actually reading mysterys last point aswell im slightly swayed already, if there are goals for posting then would it not lead to more trolling. Looking for acknowledgement?

Maybe make it so that if there are the number of likes in your profile then it can't go negative. -

I'm sure there are people who just read and chose to. For example if I like Belials opinion in a debate and I'm new and the post is like 3 days old but thread is still on top. Am I going to qoute him? No.
And it isnt meant for players who just read to have goals. It just be cool to see how many people liked the post/thread IMO. -
This isn't Facebook. IMO it sounds like a cheesy popularity contest. Plenty of players will just give their friends thumbs up & anyone they don't like or are mad at, thumbs down. It just sounds like a waste of resources to me. I'd prefer to be able to edit my posts for spelling & grammar errors. However, that's already been suggested plenty of times too.
-
Since this was just suggested again, here's why I don't think we need it.
-
Maybe only the suggestion forum.
