Sorry if this subject has already been discussed, I don't come to the forums often.
Anyway, I suggest adding an ability to garrison mob members in a turf for a large defensive bonus to that turf, the trade off being that these mob members would be unavailable for attacking until they are out of garrison for a period of time.
Also, mob members could be slated as only for attacking purposes, which would give them an attack bonus, but that would come with the trade off of that these members would no longer give any defensive help, until they are designated back as an ordinary mob member.
There would also be a waiting period to prevent someone from designating their entire mob as attack only, wiping someone out, then quickly switching to defense

Well what if they went all attack and wiped everyone out? They would then have all the time in the world to switch back...

Perhaps, but they run the risk of not being able to defend their territory from anyone for say 12 hours, including the person they wiped out.
It would really make someone think carefully before "sending the house" because a counter attack could be devastating.

Also if someone is being attacked, they can still garrison mob, weather the storm, and take out a re-grouping enemy

What are the numbers for each thing?

I was thinking +30 defense plus whatever the mob member is designated with in the garrison
+15 attack bonus for each member designated attack.
These numbers are just starter numbers.
This way those of equal mob numbers would not need a vendetta to duke it out.
Turfs could also be built in strategic defensive positions.

Attack bonus could be bumped to 25, because of the risk involved, and this game already favors the defender

But then why would you not just always have half defense and half attack as your mob will be a lot more powerful then if you just left them (I may be reading this wrong, please explain if I am)

I think the garrison bonus would be need to be boosted to 50 per member.
Players would need to be careful about designating mob as attack or garrisoning mob because once a member of a mob is garrisoned, they offer no protection to any other turf, and no longer count towards the players total defense count.
They also offer nothing as far as attacking. So one would need to designate mob wisely if at all

But say a 30k mob wanted to attack me, well this way I couldn't really stop the ER visits, but if they wanted to cap my turf, a couple well defended turfs which are strategically placed could be enough to at least make it difficult to cap me out.

This has already been suggested. It would penalize players with large amounts of turf.

I don't see how it would penalize players with large amounts of turf, unless they had a small mob, in which case they are going to get leveled anyway.
If mob members arent garrisoned or designated as attack, your statistics would be exactly the same as they show today.
