"block player" option needed
Forums › Suggestions & Feedback › "block player" option needed-
It would be awesome if we could get an option to block players that we do not need to hear from. Honestly it would be far easier for us to block any players on our own rather than the crying and reporting that I'm sure the dev teams currently deal with. A even bigger bonus would be a nice, bright message back to the blocked player that they have been blocked.
-
Most other games I play have this option and I like it. Put me down for a yes!
-
Even more helpful would be to send a message to the blocked player through their news saying they have been blocked by "Player A" to make sure there is no mistaking it.
-
I support the idea 100%. I find that same option works quite nicely in PAL
-
I agree, much needed and long over due!
-
I agree and have also requested this in feedback over a year ago...Nick responded that he was working on it and called it the "putz" feature lol. He can manually block tho.
-
The only potential problem is the amount of people you might have to block (especially if a blocked person starts asking non-blocked people to pass on their message).
Overall though: 👍👍
-
Bad idea IMO. This is a social game. You shouldn't be able to lock people out of the social aspect

Another issue is how small and unpopulated tw is. Within a week 90% of the 200 players we currently have will be blocked

If you are pushed to the point of actually blocking someone I'd probably be safe in assuming diplomacy would be off the table anyway. Putting the option in does not mean it has to be used, but it would be an amazingly helpful feature to keep harassing or unwanted messages from coming through. I'm can't say I'm surprised to see you against it.ㄖ ㄩ Ց Ϊ ㄹ wrote:

I like this idea very well. For some (a lot more now than ever before) get a bit hastey with there vocabulary after a tiny little skirmish. Yes it is a war "GAME" and some get so wrapped up in the moment and say very nasty things. This also may be used for spammers as well, that abuse the over-posting privilege. I'm all for this as a fix to many of the social mishaps we have to endure to play a "GAME" without the verbal abusing. 👍👍👍👍👍
-
Yes, yes...a thousand times yes. And the blocked person(s) can go socialize with someone else. For example, there are already players I don't socialize with (simply b/c we haven't crossed paths, etc.) and they seem to make it w/o earth-shattering consequences. If I want to send a message at that point I'll do it on the map. 😜
-
Great idea!

This seems directed at Belial for some reason hana

I'm neutral here. I see it from your point of view, Viper and Belial's. Seeing as you guys have millions of mobs and turfs making you popular with everyone and your ubiquitous presence in the forums 😝
-
I also see both POV, however, I'm inclined to side with B on this. It's giving players more power than they need. Most of our are bound to end up with a long list of blocked players.
But what concerns me is where some of you speak of diplomacy. Players can just block someone because they don't want to make the effort. That changes things on a negative scale.
If anything, support should enquire in to requests to have players blocked. Yes, it's more work for them but that's not our problem, that's what support is there for. If someone is being rude to me and I want to block them, I contact support, I have evidence, they should block them. Or maybe it's a temporary block, say 30 days.
Strike system, you receive 3 blocks you receive a 24 hour ban. The key is more punishment less warnings, will deter negative behaviour.
-
I kind of agree with Viper now that I think of it. For example Facebook is a SOCIAL network but it has the option to block people. Does that make it less fun? No, it just makes YOUR networking more comfortable.
In short, you should be able to control who messages you or write on your walls. We do have the right to privacy.
-
Or make it a 24 hour block. That would at least help with the spammers. I don't mean code lists either; I mean the ones that spam attack with the same message repeatedly, just to be annoying. It sucks having to delete 50+ rude messages on your wall while you wait for support to respond.

Ok I see the sense in this idea. It's a great one. But I have a question. How do you prevent inappropiate noobs from blocking the people trying to tell them about the actual technicalities of the game? If you could just hit block, then a lot of the bigger players who are trying to lecture the smaller players will be blocked.

Should be able to block them from messaging you and posting on your wall
