New Feature - Allies
Forums › Suggestions & Feedback › New Feature - Allies-
I would like to see a new feature implemented where people could have "Allies". This would be similar to vendettas, but would not have an expiration timer, instead requiring a minimum ally time of 2 weeks-1 month. It would also be limited to 1 or 2 players. I believe it would add a great social dynamic to it, as well as a way to help new/smaller players similar to the "mentoring" idea mentioned in another thread here.
First feature would be to allow "piggybacking" turf building. Basically an ally could build a turf anywhere within build distance of an ally's turf. This would allow players to create turfs near their allies so they could work and grow together. It would also let players who are in rural/unpopulated areas, and people on islands/other countries be able to expand into more populated areas. This would help keep those players playing the game and interested, plus it would pump new blood into stagnant areas.

Next, you wouldn't have to pay protection in cities where your ally has Capo status. This is like real life where you other countries let allies build bases in their cities and are given special privelages.
Lastly, any turf that's within build distance of an allies turf would receive a 10-25% defense boost. This would only apply to those turfs and not the player. This would be a great way for smaller players to be safer when they stick close to a bigger player that's an ally.

Possible downsides: mule accounts. Unfortunantly mule accounts exist, but this feature would have almost no real benefit to them. A mule account usually is able to create a turf anywhere the "master account" is anyways, since they owner has access to both devices. Also, the defense boost wouldn't be an issue, since it's something they could already do with a vendetta, which would give a better defense anyways.
I think another limitation that would need to be implimented would be to only allow 1 turf to be built per 24 hour period when "piggybacking". This would mean the player would only be able to create one turf per 24 hour period next to an allies turf that's outside of their own exisiting build radius. Also, once they created their turf, they would not be able to create any more turfs near their newly created turfs for 24 hours, similar to capture turf limitations. This would help prevent a new player from showing up out of the blue with a bunch of new turfs in an area.
-
The "required stay time" would also prevent people from just joining and dropping new allies to be able to skip around anywhere. This would make choosing your allies something to be taken not lightly as you're stuck with them. Also make it so you can not attack an ally, which makes it so people can't use this to create capturable turfs near their turfs (i.e. make it useless to mule account players).
Anyways, would love to hear your thoughts on this. I think it would be a great way to encourage players to work together, also would help keep new players around longer, and spice things up for players who've been around.

Maybe put a "end alliance" button kind of like the "disband vendetta" button, that way you can get out of it after the minimum time has passed.Q; What if your ally quits but doesn't reset?

or you could have it so it outomatically disbands if one player is not active for a certain time.El Borges wrote:

Hey, thanks, figured I'd bump this old thread in case this was on the drawing board and might be an option still. Last bump I swear ;)Interesting ideas jmanx :)

I like this idea. I think I hated it when you first posted it. Guess it took some time to grow on me

Interesting. I'm not too keen on the turf piggybacking though.

I like the idea. Only thing, I would be worried about is if someone like Bella or someone like that getting 3 or 4 Allies going at one time. Next thing you know this person is covering the whole country. I think limiting it to a certain number of allies within a time frame could solve this.

Thumbs UP

There's something else players could have happen to them. If they build around another player the other person can attack and cap their turf. That's the only thing I'm not liking about it. But I still think it's a great idea.

Very good idea.
