Maybe I personally just haven't found a solution, but...
With the iPad (non-3G) we can only build where our Internet connection is. This in my opinion doesn't facilitate the games function. Take my character for example, I started in 2 rural areas and took over most of the people I was around. Now I have absolutely zero chance of expanding as no one is close enough to capture and I can't build further. The only way I could see getting around this would be to delete 6 of my turfs, find a place with a lot of people around go there and try and find a wifi, panera lunch?? And hope that you can build close enough to start capturing, which is absolutely counter productive

Ipad is no dofferent than ipod in that regard.

Ypu can turf hop yo a new location.

... How do you "turf hop" if you can't capture people near you?

You build your own turfs. You don't cap them. You build one, go in the direction you want delete the last one. It's VERY expensive though. Very.

I have an iPod and although I'm not all over the place, I do pretty well. I place turfs when I'm on a trip and find wifi. I turf hopped to Trenton in one night (I'm east of Philly in nj) and it cost me about 200mil

Plus establishments like restaurants and libraries have free wifi freakin everywhere.
